The Webb Maintenance Checklist

Is your HVAC system down or not working to the best of its ability? Follow these steps:

bad condenser coil troubleshooting air unit

Example of a dirty condenser coil.

  1. Change your air filters monthly using only fiberglass air filters. Expensive filters will restrict air flow and force your system to work harder than it has to.

  2. Treat for fire ants. Ants can cause electrical shorts.

  3. Check your capacitor. These provide the initial jolt of electricity to start the motors in your system.

  4. Clean your coil. Condensation can form on the dirt and then freeze during operation. The accumulation of frost stops the heat transfer with the air in your home, which causes the air conditioner to stop cooling the air completely.

  5. Add Clorox or condensate tablets to your drain line.
